The eagerly anticipated Fragile Earth collection has arrived! These wonderfully crafted pieces each take several months of hard work to complete. The collection is the result of JAROME's emotional and psychological response to the global environmental crisis. Created during the pandemic, the collection also reflects upon our human fragility in the face of the forces of nature. The tree acts as a powerful dual symbol of humanity and longevity while the juxtaposition of the fragility is emphasised by the broken glass in the composition.
Each painting starts life as an abstract oil painting, which forms the background to subsequent layers of resin, ink, dye, and paint powder paint pigment. Following this, fragments of recycled glass is incorporated, each tiny fragment hand placed onto the canvas. Yet more resin layers are added to complete the painstaking process.
